Dante Lopez

Degree: BA(Hons) Business Studies and Politics
Year of Study: 2nd Year
Favourite Food: Union curly fries
Pronouns: He/Him
Reason for joining SNP: I have always been a supporter of Scottish Independence, yet it wasn’t until 2019 that I became an active member of the Scottish National Party. Locally, in Argyll and Bute, the Tory / Labour / Independent led council made the decision to slash the budget for Youth Services. Following a council-wide school strike, meetings with CLD Scotland, and national media attention, they decided to push ahead with their stringent cuts. This made me aware of how little the other parties cared about something as important as ensuring that the young people had an enjoyable upbringing. I felt as though this related to a lot of their decisions and actions, and the lack of ambition these parties often had on issues that affect young people, and others most marginalised in society. I felt as though the SNP were the only party with Scotland at heart.
Brief About: I grew up around Stirling, but originally hail from Oban, where I spent my high school years. I was the Youth Officer of the Oban and Lorn SNP Branch from 2019-2021. I have also been the Vice-President of SUSNA, from January to April 2022. In addition to my political roles within the SNP, I am also the elected Housing Officer in the University of Stirling Students Union for the academic year 2022/23, a post which I resume on June 1 2022. I’ve worked in many places including the Oban Fish and Chip Shop (worth a visit!), Screwfix, Pets at Home, and now Wren Kitchens. I am always open to support our members and wider members of the community, and you can contact me at any time on the email address above.
As President of SUSNA, Dante Lopez represents the society and its members at meetings of the SNP Students National Executive Committee.

Favourite Song: You’re So Sweet (You Should Die) – Lucia and the Best Boys
Reason for joining SNP: Independence!
Brief About: After joining as soon as I turned 16, I have been involved and interested in politics as long as I can remember. Throughout High School, my favourite subject was always Modern Studies and I was always trying to find the latest news or political information I could.
I am now studying Politics at the University, now in Second Year, enjoying the course and hoping to continue doing so until I (hopefully) graduate!
Zack is also the National Convenor of SNP Students.

Degree: BA(Hons) Business Studies
Year of Study: 2ndYear
Favourite Food: Cheese
Pronouns: She/Her
Reason for joining SNP: I joined the SNP because I want independence for Scotland, and I feel that the SNP works hard to improve the lives of those living in Scotland.
Brief About: I grew up in the North of England, and moved to Kintyre at the age of 12. My heart was set on making it to the University of Stirling so it was a no-brainer when I received my offer. I like ducks and goats.
